The "Hot" Garden
The "Hot" Garden has been in the works for two years now, however, due to some deer issues it has yet to come into existence. We started with the firepit area several years ago and have always wanted to add plantings in red, orange, and yellow around it. We started with two cattle panel trellises last year, sadly, the deer and bunnies had a delicious dinner of all our plantings in just one night! So we decided to wait a year and try a different approach. We will be installing a 7-8' metal wire fence around the area we will be planting. This fence will be covered with native crossvine and native honeysuckle vine. We are adding two arches at each entry point and planting crossvine on each. Inside the fenced area we will be planting a variety of "hot" colored flowers such as coreopsis, hollyhock, daisy, zinnia, cosmos, crocosmia, daylilies, black eyed susan vine, poppies and bloodflower. There will be updates on our blog...stay tuned!
