The front "Formal" garden was once grass, pine trees and dirt. We removed the grass and began laying out formal raised beds which surround the center fountain. We have experimented with a wide range of plants but found that Virginia native plants seem to be the happiest, although we still try new varieties.  

This year, 2021, we will be adding some new varieties of irises, cosmos, zinnias and lilies.
